Welcome to The Village Providore

At The Village Providore, food is more than something to eat — it’s family, memory, and happiness.

Our story began in Nan’s country kitchen, where the stove was always on and something sweet was cooling on the bench. Nan and Mum taught us to cook the old-fashioned way: stir patiently, taste carefully, and respect every ingredient. When Dad became chief confectionery maker, our kitchen turned into a place where flavour, love, and tradition came together.

In 2017, our journey led us to Sydney’s historic Rocks Markets, where we found our home. There, we dedicated ourselves entirely to handmade fudge and artisan nougat — cutting generous samples, sharing stories, and filling gift boxes with flavours inspired by both heritage and imagination.

With more than 30 fudge flavours and 21 nougat flavours, our range moves from comforting classics like Caramel Honeycomb and Milo & Malteser to bright Australian bush flavours like Desert Lime, Rosella, and Lemon Myrtle. Each batch is made in small quantities, by hand, with care and patience — just as Nan would have wanted. 

Long before the fudge and nougat, there were the bottles. Traditional jams, marmalades, pickles, chutneys, relishes and sauces are where our food story began, including recipes handed down from Michele’s Nan.

Today we still make those old family favourites alongside our own newer creations — dressings, balsamics, savoury and sweet sauces, and flavours featuring Australian native ingredients such as pepperberry, desert lime and lemon myrtle. This part of The Village Providore has found its home in our shop at Dirty Janes Bowral, where our bottled range is exclusively available alongside our handmade fudge and nougat.
