Welcome to The Village Providore

At The Village Providore, food is more than something to eat — it’s family, memory, and happiness. Our story began in Nan’s country kitchen, where the stove was always bubbling and the shelves were lined with jars of jam and chutney. Nan and Mum taught us to cook the old-fashioned way: stirring patiently, tasting carefully, and respecting every ingredient. When Dad joined in as chief jam maker, our family kitchen became a place where flavour, love, and tradition came together.

In 2000, we began sharing those same jams, chutneys, and sauces through our gourmet shops, introducing our family recipes to a wider circle of food lovers. Then in 2017, our journey led us to Sydney’s historic Rocks Markets, where we found our home. There, we turned our focus to fudge and nougat — cutting generous samples, telling stories, and filling gift boxes with flavours inspired by both tradition and imagination.

With 21 flavours of each, our range moves from the comfort of classics like Caramel Honeycomb and Milo & Malteser to the unexpected brightness of Australian bush foods like Desert Lime and Rosella. Each batch is made in small quantities, with care and patience, just as Nan would have wanted.

But our village is more than just fudge and nougat. Online, you’ll also find the jars that began our family story — jams, marmalades, chutneys, sauces, and fruit butters — alongside playful newcomers like fruit and flower sprinkles. We’ve reintroduced nostalgic sweets from Pop’s rock candy to Nan’s kitchen favourites, added a carefully chosen collection of loose-leaf teas, and most recently launched Village Home: vintage-inspired mugs, teapots, serving boards, and kitchen treasures that bring warmth and charm to everyday life.

Our Philosophy

Through all these years and all these flavours, one thing has never changed: our belief that food is happiness. It’s the joy of breaking open a gift box, the comfort of jam on warm toast, or the delight of trying a flavour you’ve never tasted before.

We believe food should:

If you’re in Sydney, we’d love to welcome you in person. You’ll find us every Saturday and Sunday (10am–5pm) at The Rocks Markets on George Street. Stop by for a taste — we offer free samples of all our fudge and nougat, and we’ll help you discover the flavours that speak to you.
